This opportunity at Fort Drum MEDDAC combines clinical excellence with the unique reward of supporting the military community.
Ridgewood Government Services is seeking a Nurse Practitioner – Pediatrics to provide comprehensive, outcome-based primary care services at the Guthrie Ambulatory Clinic, Fort Drum, New York. This is an on-site clinical role where your expertise in pediatric care will directly impact the health and well-being of military families across the installation.
What You'll Do
Primary Pediatric Care
- Provide a full range of outcome-based nurse practitioner services per MTF-granted privileges, including general screening, medical care, examinations, immunizations, diagnosis, treatment, and patient counseling for routine, acute, and chronic conditions.
- Diagnose and treat patients with common acute conditions, chronic illnesses, and minor trauma within accepted protocols, clinical practice guidelines, Nurse Practice Acts, and/or in consultation with a physician.
Patient & Family Education
- Promote preventive care and health maintenance, including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self-care through formal and individual education and counseling.
- Initiate, implement, and oversee disease management and education programs to address education and self-care needs identified by the patient and family.
Clinical Collaboration & Documentation
- Communicate and collaborate with a diverse healthcare team to inform plans and actions, and provide teaching that benefits patients, families, and the organization.
- Conduct interdisciplinary collaboration with physicians on patient management, including evaluating and revising therapeutic plans and managing high-risk, unstable, or complex patients.
- Confident diagnosing and treating the full range of pediatric conditions — from upper respiratory infections and asthma to ear, eye, and nasal infections, minor cardiac and allergic conditions, eczema, and beyond.
- A strong communicator who can relate constructively to patients, families, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
- Committed to the military mission and motivated by meaningful service to families who sacrifice alongside those who serve.
Qualifications
- Graduate degree or higher in nursing from an accredited educational program.
- National certification in pediatric specialty through the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) or the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
- Completion of a formal post-graduate certificate program in pediatrics.
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
Experience
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner within the last two (2) years prior.
Licensure
- Current, valid, and unrestricted license to practice in one of the 50 U.S. states and/or territories; no limitations, stipulations, or pending adverse actions.
Skills & Competencies
- Proficient in Electronic Medical Records (GENESIS), Microsoft Office, Medical Readiness Tracking Applications, and Workload Tracking Systems (DMHRSi).
- Demonstrated ability to read, write, and speak English effectively for clinical communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Work Authorization & Health Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Immunizations must be current per AR 40-562 and CDC/ACIP recommendations; annual tuberculosis screening required (Mantoux technique).
