Join our team at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC) Blood Donor Center, where your expertise directly supports the health and readiness of U.S. Service Members, their families, and the military community across Europe. This role offers meaningful, hands-on work in blood collection, processing, and donor care—both on-site and at blood drives across the region.


What You’ll Do


Phlebotomy & Clinical Duties
  • Collect venipuncture and capillary specimens efficiently during high-demand periods.
  • Assess donor eligibility, including vital signs, hemoglobin levels, and medical history.
  • Perform donor interviews, ensure proper documentation, and enter data into the Blood Establishment Computer System (BECS).
  • Follow infection control, aseptic technique, and SOPs to maintain safety and quality standards.
  • Recognize and respond to donor reactions and emergency situations.
  • Assist with component processing, labeling, inventory, and shipping of blood products.
  • Support apheresis platelet/plasma collection and frozen red blood cell processing.

Blood Drive & Operational Support
  • Set up and tear down mobile collection sites throughout Europe (approx. 12 TDY events/year).
  • Coordinate supplies, equipment maintenance, and mobile drive logistics.
  • Maintain accurate records, prepare blood bags, and ensure compliance with AABB, CAP, CLIA, FDA, and TJC regulations.
  • Drive donor center vehicles as needed and assist with administrative support.

  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced clinical setting.
  • Compassionate and patient-focused, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledgeable about infection control, phlebotomy techniques, and clinical laboratory operations.
  • Mission-driven and excited to contribute to the health and readiness of the U.S. military community.


Qualifications
 
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent; graduation from a certified Phlebotomy or Medical Laboratory Technician program.
  • Certification: Active Phlebotomist or Medical Laboratory Technician certification (AMT, ASCP, or equivalent).
  • BLS Certification: Must be obtained prior to start date and maintained throughout employment.
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year within the last 3 years working in a medical environment with phlebotomy, patient reception, and clerical duties; experience in Blood Donor Center activities preferred.
  • Skills: Ability to work efficiently under pressure, read/write/speak English effectively, and maintain professional demeanor with patients and staff.
  • Must be available to travel off-site monthly for blood drives
