We are seeking an SLP to provide evaluation, treatment, and case management at the Intrepid Spirit Center at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, Fort Cavazos. You’ll work on an interdisciplinary team building individualized rehab plans for a patient population that often arrives after other treatment paths have plateaued.
What You’ll Do
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with complex speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders.
- Build individualized treatment plans and adjust as patients progress.
- Use innovative therapy techniques and bring fresh approaches to challenging cases.
- Collaborate with neurologists, neuro-optometrists, occupational therapists, psychologists, and case managers on shared patients.
- Contribute to clinical practice guidelines and ongoing research on rehabilitation of communication and swallowing disorders.
- Document patient care in MHS Genesis within three business days and respond to patient messages within one business day.
Who You Are
- An experienced SLP comfortable with complex caseloads — including patients referred after limited progress elsewhere.
- Innovative in your clinical approach; willing to try new protocols and adapt to each patient.
- A collaborative teammate who works well with physicians and other therapists.
- Motivated by mission and the chance to make a meaningful difference for service members.
What You’ll Need
Education
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, or a related field from an ASHA-accredited program.
Certifications & Licensure
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- National Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
- Active, full, unrestricted state license to practice as a Speech Language Pathologist in any U.S. state, and a National Provider Identifier (NPI) that can be tied to the Fort Cavazos site.
Experience
- Clinical experience treating adult patients, ideally with brain injury, neurologic, or rehabilitation caseloads.
Other Requirements
- U.S. citizenship (or eligibility to work on a federal military installation).
- Ability to pass a background investigation and obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) for base access.
- Up-to-date immunizations, TB screening, and health requirements for the facility.
Why You’ll Love It Here
