Schedule: Full-Time (40 hrs/week; shifts generally Mon–Fri 0630–1730)

We are seeking a Clinical Pharmacist to support the Family Medicine department at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Landstuhl, Germany. In this role, you will provide expert pharmaceutical care within Family Medicine, managing a wide range of patient medication needs while collaborating closely with the care team.

This position offers meaningful, hands-on clinical work with military patients, helping ensure safe and effective medication therapy while supporting the overall health of military families.

What You’ll Do

Patient Care & Clinical Services
 
  • Assess patients’ response to drug therapy and plan medication regimens based on physician-established diagnoses.
  • Order and evaluate laboratory tests to monitor therapy effects and outcomes.
  • Initiate, modify, or discontinue medications for chronic disease states (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, asthma, anticoagulation).
  • Monitor pharmacotherapy requiring dosage adjustments (e.g., aminoglycosides, phenytoin, antithrombotics).
  • Administer prescription and non-prescription medications according to facility protocols.
  • Assess metabolic needs and order therapeutic enteral or parenteral nutrition products.
  • Evaluate medical and medication histories for drug-related problems and adjust therapy as needed.
  • Consult with physicians, dietitians, nurses, and other providers to optimize patient care.
  • May be required to staff out-patient pharmacy up to 2 days/week.

Pharmacy Operations & Documentation
  • Dispense, compound, and prepare medications accurately.
  • Ensure accuracy and safety of all medications prepared by technical staff.
  • Conduct patient counseling and education on proper medication use.
  • Facilitate Adverse Drug Reaction (ADR) reporting and drug utilization reviews (DURs).
  • Provide in-service training to clinical staff on new medications and best practices.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reports in compliance with regulatory standards.

Who You Are
  • Licensed pharmacist with strong clinical skills and experience in patient-centered care.
  • Collaborative, detail-oriented, and committed to improving patient outcomes.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
  • Passionate about supporting military patients and families while advancing pharmacy practice.

Qualifications

Education
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from an ACPE-accredited college/university or FPGEC certification.

Experience
  • Completion of a clinical pharmacy residency or fellowship accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) or the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), or documentation of appropriate education, training, and/or continuing medical education (CME) in clinical pharmacy.
  • Minimum 2 years of direct patient care experience in clinical pharmacy within the last 3 years.

Licensure
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted pharmacist license.

Certification
 
  • Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association and/or an American Red Cross-approved training program prior to starting.
  • Maintain a valid BLS certification throughout employment to continue making a difference in patient care.
