Job Overview
The Portfolio Manager is a key member Team, responsible for the strategic oversight and management of defense-related projects and programs. Under the direct supervision of the Project Steering Committee, this role ensures alignment with national security objectives, contractual requirements, and stakeholder expectations.Qualifications
- Prior experience working with EUCOM, NATO, Bundeswehr, or US Armed Forces.
- Extensive experience in portfolio or program management within the defense industry.
- Strong knowledge of government contracts, defense procurement processes, regulations, and security protocols.
- Proven ability to manage complex, high-value projects and programs.
- Fluent in German (native speaker) and English (both written and verbal).
- Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent financial management and analytical skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a high-level security clearance.
- In-depth knowledge of defense technologies and systems.
Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
- Oversee the management, operation, and successful delivery of Austability GmbH’s defense contracts and projects across multiple military bases and facilities in Germany.
- Ensure compliance with German-US agreements, Bundeswehr, and NATO requirements.
- Implement organizational goals, strategic plans, policies, and operational procedures.
- Coordinate with government agencies, military personnel, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project success.
- Provide day-to-day support for technical and administrative project activities.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships with military and industry partners.
- Supervise financial aspects, including payables, invoice processing, and budget management.
- Monitor portfolio performance, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources while maintaining strict financial controls.
- Lead and mentor project teams, fostering a culture of excellence and security awareness.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the defense sector.
- Prepare and present comprehensive reports to senior management and stakeholders.
